I did 3 3rd tier NMs on Hydra path with linkshell this weekend using all key item I got from marid recently.
We start with Armed gears who has pop location at G/H-11 (big room) in Alzadaal Undersea Ruins.

I’m on RDM/WHM and BLM/RDM for this NM, our set up is BLM heavy. We have 5 BLMs for the most of damage source because Armed Gears is practically immune to physical damage until it lose 1-2 of its gears, so our strategy is nuke it down to 20% or so when it lose 2nd gears and become vulnerable to melee damage in the mean time we have our melee just sit back since its not worth TP giving to NM while most of melee can do is single digit damage.

Armed Gears has unique characteristic that will absorb magic damage of same element it has at the time, to know what is its element at the time you must notice which en spell or element of spell it uses. In order to damage it using magic you must cast magic that element stronger than current element of Armed Gears. Sound complex enough? Nope it isn’t that hard. For example if it uses enfire then its current element is fire so don’t cast fire spell on it and use water spell to damage it. If it cast light or dark element spell then you are free to nuke whatever element you want.

It will pop with very high resistance to both physical and magic damage, so even with you casting right spell it still take little damage but no worry the resistance will decrease over time and get better after it start losing gears. Another thing is careful when you dispel it, or just don’t dispel it at all (I recommend dispel it when it have shell and with few more buff along with shell though) because if you dispel its enspell, it becomes self-curing bitch until next enspell is casted although all elements magic work on it.

The fight is little long since can’t do decent damage for the first 50% or so, nothing harm done though I suppose it is very easy to tank when its TP gain is very limited (mostly from from spell damage) I think our tank drop to orange once when it land normal hit then use Rail Cannon right after, beside that it seems to be a cake to tank. After it lost 2nd gears we have our melee engage and tear it down pretty quickly with random stun here and there to prevent nasty TP move.

Speaking of drops I suppose I got decently one. Unfortunately it didn’t drop Tomoe which I really want for my spear build on SAM, Aurum Sabatons is great though and perfectly replace unicorn leggings in my WAR TP gears and grips sell for some money
