My friend Ljarin recommend me to play this game long ago, I think he was a beta tester as well. He told me he will play it somewhat hardcore and ask me to join him when it goes life in September. I pick it up about a month ago and find out that I bought US version instead of Euro version so I can’t play with him on Euro server so I didn’t register the game and was looking for sort of CD-key trade on internet/forum but it seem impossible as well as order Euro version. Mainly because most of E-commerce site that has Euro version in stock won’t ship to Thailand or one that willing to ship to Thailand doesn’t have Euro version -_-
So I decide to register my US version and play a bit during my first month of free trial last week, if game turn out fun and I like it I’ll ask Ljarin to buy me Euro version and I pay him back via some money transfer service (probably Western Union) Installing took longer than I expect as well as patching, WAR (I’ll use WAR for Warhammer online : Age of Reckoning from now) patch size is around 300 MB but take me almost 3 hours to download it. I’m not bothered much though because I still can play FF11 while download the patch.
I start game and choose to play on Darklands server which is labeled as Oceanic server. There are some Thai people play on Oceanic server as well, they said it gives the best latency and have decent number of player on it, well I’m ok with whatever server since I don’t know anyone so its good to play with Thai people because at least I play on same time with them and can communicate somewhat easier. I roll Squig Herder on Destruction side. Squig Herder is range DPS class who came with personal tank, a Squig, I choose this class because just because it seem good at soloing ._.
My first impression on this game is I lag, I think my action delay about 0.5 sec which is very annoying because I have to keep pressing hotkey to use just about every action and they are lagging. Another thing is my PC is sort of too gimp to play WAR smoothly, I built this PC 2 years ago so it sure outdated but it’s spec. still higher than recommended spec. from EA (which I tend to believe that recommend spec. is totally bullshit after read alot of thread in various forum about WAR performance) I have tired just about everything to increase my performance (FPS) from installing various version of VGA driver, update DirectX to turn off everything (like AA,AF,etc.) and set everything in game to lowest just to have a better FPS but all of them seem not helping much. I still have low FPS in PvE, it still playable in PvE but it is really annoying.
Oh look my noob gobby win PQ! >.>
Despite the lag and my PC can’t handle the game, WAR is fun to me. I like the concept of PQ (Public Quest) and Scenario (I can play one that don’t have many people involved only because of lag issue ._.) questing for experience point is ok, PvE is easy (nothing beat FF11 PvE IMO) I get chance to play some PvP in Scenario mission but I’m not that impressed, probably because I lag way too much and I don’t familiar with controlling yet so I react everything too slow. I wish they somehow invent PS2 style controller that compatible with WAR and have multi button for in game hotkey, I really attached to PS2 controller because of many years in FF11.
After all I feel WAR really has potential and what stop me from getting more fun out of it is my shitty PC lol. I want to build new PC but I’m hesitate because economic these day I might better off saving my money instead of use it just for one game, so I will likely end up with cancle my WAR subscription before my free 1 month trial end for now. I’ll definetly give it another shot when I get new PC and hopefully they fix their shitty code that cause memory leak, crash to destop and unnessary extra CPU/GPU power to run the game.

It has been 3 months or so since I got Martial Abjuration: Legs from Odin which I plan to use it on HQ Cursed Diechlings if I ever make them. Well I never get chance to attempt crafting because I plan to save money for something else but my plan on that matter is sort of ruined (again), so I’m in kind of frustrated (emo) and think What the hell I’m going to do this just for a kick.
I begin gathering material for the synthesis since last Sunday, surprisingly the hardest material to get is Platinum Ingot and Sheet at reasonable price. Last time I check price of Platinum Ingot was 3 months ago and they were selling at 20K but now it seem impossible to get that deal unless one on AH are coming from undercutting people who get it from Einherjar, most of them are selling for 21-22K. I manage to picked up some for 20,000-20,010 (don’t set price at 20,001 if you are reading this!) and try to craft some using nugget recipe which turn out pretty bad because I broke some synthesis and lost almost a stack of nugget, probably not saving after all lol. I spend another day gather Darksteel ore and craft them into ingot which will save about 2,500 gils per synthesis (around 7.5K gils if synthesis versus 10K if buy off AH), I need 48 ingots for 24 synthesis of Cursed Diechlings which mean I need at least 48 Darksteel ores as well.
I manage to picked up 30 or so off AH and don’t have any inventory space left so I decide to craft them all first so I can buy more ore, that time still have 20 or so Darksteel Ore on AH so I think I should have enough time to get back and buy the rest of them since supply seem still high. Well I was wrong, after I finish craft all ore into ingot I get back to Jeuno just to found that there is another guy buy all of ore on AH and left me with nothing -_- so I turn my ingot into sheet while keep eye on AH for more Darksteel Ore. I broke few ingots but still save more than pick them up from AH I think, I snag few ores on AH and end up with buy another stack of ingot.
Now I need to find a crafter to make a Darksteel Cuisses for me, it is a level 81 Smithing recipe so I can’t make it myself. I asked few friend if they or thier friend have Smithing level and browsing FFXIAH for crafter too. My friend told me he know someone who can make for me but I found one on AH who has Smithing level 79 so I find it better to ask her to synthesis for me because she can get chance to skill up as well. I supposed break rate at 2 level gap of skill but using +2 skill equipment and advanced synthesis support. The synthesis went very well, she broke 2 out of 24 attempts, one lost nothing but crystal and another lost one Darksteel Sheet, but also HQ one -_- HQ while skill up is like slapping in the face especially when I can’t use HQ version in my Cursed Diechlings recipe. So I bought more material and she success on both extra attempts, now I’m ready for 24 attempts of Cursed Diechlings. I have a feeling that I’ll HQ at least one, oh maybe two!
Next day first thing when I log on is craft them all and get it over with. I start craft some tier 1 recipe first to see how it went, I know it has nothing to do with Cursed Diechlings synthesis at all but I have this personal believe that if I manage to HQ some then it is good time to craft more. Well just another superstition thing you can say. I manage to HQ some Ebony Lumber (3/5) and Ancient Lumber (2/4) so I have even more good feeling on crafting Cursed Diechlings that I’ll HQ it for sure, more than one is very possible too! I start craft my first batch of material, 0/12 HQ with 2 break but losing crystal only, not a good sign. I continue my craft to 2nd batch, half of material gone and I still don’t HQ any. This is definitely not good, I fell into frustrated mode once again and proceed to finish off the rest of my material. 2 synthesis are done and still no HQ, I even more depress lol but then this happen!
YAY finally and proceed to NQ 3 more. Well at least 1 HQ for myself, I was hoping for 2 so I can make some money out of it >.> I went to Jeuno to take airship to Sandoria but when I enter dock I realize I left abjuration in my storage in Bastok stupid me ._.
Now time to sell 23 Cursed Diechlings probably done in middle of 2011, anyone want some?

Being a qualified salary man I don’t get a chance to go on vacation much, in fact last vacation I remember is probably almost 8 months ago which I went to some mountain resort with my school friend. Probably not a vacation since I went for 2 days and not traveling or anything, we stay at resort drink and play Winning Eleven (Football game on PS2) rise and repeat. My GF asked me if I want to join her trip to Tea Lo Su Waterfall with her friend (mostly college friend, which I don’t know any of them except one), why not?
Tea Lo Su is northern version of Thai language means Black Waterfall (Tea Lo means Waterfall, Su means Black), this waterfall held 6th the biggest waterfall in Asia rank. I never been there before but heard story about it alot, being one of the most beautiful waterfall in Thailand and Asia. Our trip was scheduled on 14 -17 November, I have to take 17th off but no problem with me since I still have 6 days left in my day off quota (if you find that is very little, I had 3 days for my quota in my first year in the job)
My GF told me a sleeping bag and coat is a must since it will be very cold there, not a good start I guess but I’m not too worried because I have an ultimate jacket I wear at office sometime which always make me look like a retarded snowman in it, but hey it does the job keep me warm! as for sleeping bag, I don’t have sleeping bag and I hate sleeping bag. I’m a big fan of blanket but again I supposed I have no choice but bring one since obviously I can’t fit in my GF sleeping bag and I can’t bring my favorite blanket with me. Luckily I find out my cousin has one so I can borrow his.
I start packing after got off work on Friday, not really prepared right? Anyway it took less time than I thought, I brought 4 T-Shirts, 2 Shorts, bathroom stuff and some pills, took me few tires to put them all in my backpack thought. I feel like if I open it everything inside will pop up and I won’t be able to put those stuff back in again. Almost 12 hours sitting in van isn’t exactly the best and definitely not a good start for me on this trip. I also got a bad headache and almost threw up because the way is too uh I don’t know if I can explain it right, it has way too many up and down slope, way too many curves and me sitting in the back of the van isn’t helping at all. Oh well I survive at least.

We get to resort on Saturday around 9AM, have breakfast and rush to some boat ride after since we are really behind the schedule. We are supposed to get to resort around 7AM lol. We meet our guide, Sam, at resort and sit in the back of 4×4 truck to river where our boat ride start, our guide is uh fatfuck? but he does know his shit well and good at Winning Eleven (We figure that out in the evening) Oh and he has a lot of humor too, although most of his joke is somewhat require a lot of translation (bad).
Our guide, Sam
We ride a boat along the Mea Klong river, supposed to travel to one of northern people village to see anothe waterfall there. I can tell you this is very boring, at first it is fun at all to see cliff/wood/whatever from the boat but it get boring very easy. I guess because after first 25 minutes everything is just about same. Unfortunately I can’t leave mid-way, I suppose I can but I’m not up for swimming back to where we start or climb up the mountain in middle of no where. So I struck in this stupid boat for 6 hours, yes SIX hour in this goddamn boat. We get to the village around 6PM, spend another 30minutes to the waterfall. The waterfall is indeed beautiful, unfortunately (again) I’m dumb and forget to bring battery for my camera so I don’t have any photo of it -_-
